May’s Clutch

Today’s Petite Pen was inspired by a photograph brevity contest hosted by the poet/ photographer, Sherry Anne. If you are inspired by May’s Clutch, please join me in penning some brevity of your own, fifty words or less. Feel free to post in the comments, or if you share on your own blog, be sure to ping this post and label your creation #petitepen.

Happy Tuesday!

Photograph by Sherry Anne

The evening is a raven
returning to its nest
to find
a most delightful surprise:
a golden egg,
the perfect size,
ready to hatch
another month ahead.

Reverent streetlights
cannot contain
their radiant beams,
stretched joy
across the quivering
face of the well-lit lake.
