What a wind-swept day! One event after another, but I had a bit of brevity in my back pocket to share with all of you. If you’re inspired by this game of fate, please join me in penning some brevity, 30 words or less, to the image. Be sure to tag your work #petitepen, and ping back here for all to see how the dice is rolled.
Happy Tuesday!
I do not envy death
I do not envy death
nor fear the hour’s flight.
Why should I?
Day does not envy night,
nor fate’s black dots
the white walls
they decorate.
Without contrast,
the checkerboard of life
goes unplayed.

Thank you, Tom. I liked how automatic this one was when I saw the painting. Like a knee jerk, almost.

Radical. I missed this as part of my week last week, while I was in LA visiting my mom, and sisters. Here is my contribution, K.
death
comes for us all
a checkerboard
relating tales of life
and of love
and of the way-stones
representing
two dice
dancing above
I hope you’ve been well.π

Hi dear friend. So glad to see your words here. I hope you had safe travels to LA and back. Love the stones dancing in your brevity. Playful and reminding us of the game we’re all in. I have been well. Just way too busy. I took on a special student that has become a huge focus of my “free” time. But, her success will be worth it in the end. Cheers to you! It’s a beauty of a day here. I hope it is also wherever you are. Thank you for writing alongside me. It means so much. π
