I head a rumor there was this great Flashback track posted this week as well as a fun post on Gaillard. Let me know if you’ve heard any fun rumors lately. Happy Friday!
I’m in awe of this week’s performer, Slim Gaillard. A master pianist, a bomber pilot in WWII, and a creator of his very own comedic musical language, Vout-o-Reenee. Galliard created a dictionary of words to his musical. language, which drew from the five languages he spoke: Spanish, German, Greek, Arabic, and Armenian.
In 1931, his song, “Flat Foot Floogie” along with a few others were placed in a time capsule to be opened 100 years later. Wow, that means in just seven short years!
I’m going to share my favorite song of his for today’s Retro Thursday. It’s sure to get the giggles going and if not, there’s a bonus video that highlights his piano skills (and comedy skills) live. Enjoy!
Happy Thursday!
