’72 Vintage ANSEL ADAMS Icicles Ice Stalagmites Frozen Nature Photo
Frozen mid drip,
knocked from motherβs hip,
a wild child icicle
unpredictably spirited
rippling spike.
A spontaneous medieval pike
of childhood bliss:
unicorn, fairy wand,
silver carrot,
pointed finger of the witch.
Doorway crystals,
light-filled imaginings
frozen mid drip.
This warm January,
something amiss.
Love this, K. great video too. Tori Amos is wonderful.π

Thank you, Grace. I just remember loving icicles when I was little. So many games played with them, and so far, there haven’t been any. Tori for me, well, it’s really hard to top her.

Thank you, Paula. I do hope we see some icicles this year. At least a few small ones so I can play Hansel and Gretel with my littles. π

Thank you, Tom. Icicles. There is infinite things a kid can do with one. Just a good freeze would be nice around here. It’s been so wickedly warm.

Something’s amiss. Today with climat change happening, guess one has to say that.
I enjoyed the music video. Reminded me, i was distracted while writing up my post, i had intended to add a music video. I went in edited and included it.
Happy you dropped by my blog.

Thank you, David. Wasn’t about to pass up on a chance to create a verbal icicle. π

A delightful icicle quadrille! I particularly like the βwild child icicleβ, the βspontaneous medieval pike of childhood blissβ and the list of all the things it can be.

Thank you so much, Kim. We did have such a great time with the icicles. I hope to see my two enjoying them before the winter is over. I really liked the intro image, too. Maybe one to return to, sometime.

This is crazy cool — language and imagery. I have seen some of the most gorgeous mid-air ice sculptures fall from a dripping faucet.
I especially like your opening lines.

Thank you, Shawna. Faucet sculptures sound stunning. I had a lot of fun remembering and writing this piece.
I appreciate your kind words very much.

Thank you, Jane. End of term here has me all frazzled, but I did see your comment. Wish we could get a few snow days here. A creative writing mental health day might be in order.

Thank you kindly, Dwight. I wrote this, went to class, and then came back and really forgot to dive into the comments. Wish I could freeze mid-drip maybe just for a few hours and enjoy some solitude.

Thank you, Colleen. There is an eerie sort of January happening her in the North East. I do hope we have some solid precipitation soon to remind us of why we love winter. π

The same here in mid-Michigan, K. We have some snow this morning with more predicted for the rest of the week. It’s been almost spring-like. I’m sure winter will last into May again this year.

Grinning from this. Thank you. Like a melting icecicle I wrote this and went back into grading paper mode and never returned. Will I ever change? I’m thinking not. ππ

The wild child, freezing on the way to drip, very clever.
Children like them, it’s magic for sure to them.

Thank you, Mish. It’s the busiest week ever. Okay, I might be exaggerating, but it sure feels that way. I’m sorry it took me so long to get back to your response. I enjoyed Monday Night’s icecapades.
