Petite Pen, December 27, 2022

Traveling south today, this snowy scene inspired some brevity infused with images from a classic Christmas poem. Can you tell which one?

Happy holidays!

New-Fallen Dream

The white icing winter
glazes rocks
along a wrapping paper riverbed.

In my new-fallen dream,
the stones become
sugar plum confections.

Overhead,
stubborn leaves swoon,
dropping their powder sugar.

Daybreak’s orange slice
topped with Rainier cherry
garnishes the frothy sky.

More rapid than eagles,
a cloudy wreath covers
the prize.

I rub my thistly eyes.
The entire fancy
fragile as a Christmas Pizzelle.

My new-found dreams,
crumbling in the cruel current
of the alarm bell.

  1. I find mist transcendental
    and, transformational
    an equation, worth the budding
    and the building
    reviving my inner-child
a descendent of the past, yet
the present creator, and the principle ignitor
of a love that will last

A lovely poem, yours. Thank you for always creating this space to share creatively with you. 💜

    • This poem has the foggy feeling where you are progressing in trust. I’m so sorry I missed this one earlier this week. A lovely dream-like reflection. Thank you for making this space more meaningful for me each week. 💜🥳💜
