I am so pleased to announce that one of my traditional haiku is featured today on Pure Haiku. I submitted five haiku to this year’s explosive theme back in June, so as a bonus, I will share the four unselected ones in hopes that you will kindly visit their website to read the one chosen for publication.
A big thank you to Editor Freya Pickard for featuring one of my micro-poems on her wonderful website.
Happy Saturday!
Sunday dawn chorus,
a fire and brimstone sermon
squawked at kitchen sink.
Molten lava makes
for grassy knolls; fear not the
recent explosion.
Two sides to mother:
stoic ancestry precedes
volcanic fury.
Wheels over wet leaves;
the dome of the knee explodes,
pyroclastic flow.

Thank you so much, John. As someone with both a calm and more explosive side, this image appealed to me instantly.

It has to build up, but yes, there is that potential. I’m a mostly inactive sort of volcano these days. 😂

I too am mostly inactive. This seems to come with age, speaking strictly of myself of course.

Thank you, Tom. I enjoy crafting these tiny poems and trying to get them to mean something beyond a set of syllables.

these are certainly not the sedate images you expect from traditional haiku; they are explosive and fiery; bravely done —

Thank you kindly, John. Micro-poetry can be dangerous. They way it often explodes in the readers mind long after being read.

Thank you. Haiku is habit, therapy, anger management. Well, it’s all those. I appreciate your support.
