I fell in love with Maurice Sendak’s Chicken Soup with Rice as a child, and now it’s my son’s number one most requested book at bedtime. Could be because I help sing along.
Tonight, I was reminded that it was Tuesday, my normal Petite Pen. So, in 10 words only, here’s what this picture book has taught me. If you have such a picture book/lesson in mind, please share it, maybe even in ten words or less, but either way, I’d love to read it. So ping it back here.
Happy Tuesday!

Time craves endings.
Let life simmer;
it will be consumed.
Such a fun song, I have never heard her sing this one. Now I want chicken soup with rice. Yum! β€οΈ

Thank you, John. πOh, chicken noodle soup is a staple around here as much as the book.

That sounds delicious! I have a pot of chicken soup that I made in the fridge right now and some canned stuff too. Yum!

Your reflection reminded me of laying with the boys at bedtime, and reading to them and with them. Amazing memories. Thank you for this, K. π

A lovely moment captured, Jeff. πThank you for writing alongside me. Tall tales are marvelous. I should remember to share them more often. Oh, I do love story time, even after the longest of days.

Itβs always my pleasure, K. π Ah, yes, story time was always a fav of mine. Sometimes we just talked, and that was just fine too.

lovely thought: beautifully expressed; the only Sendak book I’ve read is the one everyone’s read and I’ve read it over and over again, to myself, my kids and grandkids π

I feel lucky to have the wealth of words from an early age. This one is a keeper, for sure. Thanks, John.π
