A buoyant mind needs bags
to float in breathable atmosphere.
Thirsty for heights; damaged dirigibles roam,
but I live in salt–
bathed in for centuries,
mined in trace amounts
steering chemical barrels
through reason’s rapids.
Rocks fortifying a stony attitude,
although, not officially approved.

The image of the girl has been around since before my time.

yes, she’s iconic. I had to change it up to make this poem make sense, thought. Thanks for commenting here, John. Cheers.

Many thanks. Was thinking I could write another about a salt ring or a toss of salt over the shoulder. Lots of supersitions surrounding salt. Cheers.

Thanks, Misky. I did have a song and salt in mind, but I think I’ve cleared it up a bit with the change over of my artwork.

Beautiful image, Lisa. Such a balancing act, not too little or too much. Life is so like that, it seems.

Thank you, David. I wrote this one thinking, it makes perfect sense and it’s revelatory, but rereading it this morning, it seems more cryptic than I intended. Oh well, gonna keep grinding. 😂

That was cleverly done…yes…not for me the ever peaceful weightlessness of life, better to be in it all, an everlasting part…

Thanks, Ain. A salt for sanity, at least it has been for me.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the Morton Salt girl, but this particular image of her is lovely.

Thank you. She is iconic. I was reaching for something, maybe out of range of 44 words, but it was fun as always. I appreciate you coming by and commenting.

Yes, perhaps not this poem 😂 …but I do remember the salty ham my grandfather hung in the shed. Nothing preserving it but the granules. Thanks, Björn.
