Catch you on the flip side
of this wild ride.
Happy toes tapping,
sunshine hands clapping,
strands of hair overlapping.
Catch you on the flip side
wading in the low tide.
No matter the situation
there was a beach vacation,
a homemade celebration.
Catch you on the flip side
when the pain subsides.
The little girl eyes you’ve dried,
the dreams you set aside
to birth ours alive.
Catch you on the flip side
where endless love resides.
One wink of your bluebell eyes,
another walk in your stride;
you’re my most treasured guide.
Catch you on the flip side
where grandkids stride
like ducklings, little lucky ones.
Granny is the most fun;
her love is pure sun.

This poem is written for my mother who taught me how to be a giver and show kindness. She loves saying, “Catch you on the flip side,” so I used this phase to frame this verse.
It’s in response to this week’s Flashback Track #15 Momma Told Me. Join us in sharing your mother’s favorite saying(s).
This poem has a lovely rhythm to it. It would make a superb song, and a great photo to accompany it. You and your mum?

Thanks, Hobbo. It’s my mom holding my daughter.

it’s a lovely sing-songy tribute to mum with that catchy refrain: ‘catch you on the flip side’: all it needs is a chorus 🙂

Oh, what a great idea. I still have until tomorrow to craft something. Thank you, John. 😊
