On A Night Picnic

Through tickly tidal grass,
we move by memory
a familiar access path.
Bare feet forming craters
on cool mare sand.

We spread a neon afghan,
sip pink martini twilight,
awaiting light hors d’oeuvres,
each morsel a tiny lick,
the magic of a night picnic.

Album Cover Night Picnic by Han Noru

How now sticks the north star?
Motionless even from afar,
amongst a sky of braille
you’re the final script,
the top page never slips.

I suggest a soft-serve skinny dip
amidst seething seafoam rip.
This time, a roaring breaker, “No.”
The ocean’s stripped, it’s depth unknown,
a sunken setting by a seaside Romeo.

This week’s Flashback Track inspired me to share a big decision. This poem features a late-night plunge that ends up meaning so much more to a relationship. Check out this week’s track and share one of your big decisions.
