I’m not like her,
the intricate pattern
you spent hours
inspecting,
flipping through screens
reflecting,
lining up side-by-side,
taking a swatch home
for a trial ride.
After you committed to
cursing and perfecting,
for better or for worse,
loving and neglecting;
the lesser of two evils
in selecting.
I”m more accommodating,
draping,
simple alternating colors,
elongating.
Floor to ceiling elegant,
but with a silly side,
a circus tent,
pitched just before
the main event.
Bending to include
a better view.
Parting gracefully
to showcase you.
Without ending or beginning,
a willing detainee;
I bend my bars to set you free.

Today’s challenge was perfect as art is a huge vein of inspiration for me. Poetry often takes us to the “liminal,” in other words – a place or sensation that exists at or on both sides of a boundary or threshold, neither one thing or the other, but something betwixt and between.
In honor of the always-becoming nature of poetry, I challenge you today to select a photograph from the perpetually disconcerting @SpaceLiminalBot, and write a poem inspired by one of these odd, in-transition spaces.
