The light in your eyes is always on.
I look for it now,
my lighthouse,
steering me safely
through
sleepless seas
of turbulent thoughts,
keeping me far
from a jagged shore
of biting remarks,
a sheer awe-struck cliff
of confusion.
But my bark is but
a pebble,
in the tub of
love’s deep sea,
and you will pass your light
quickly,
covering then shadowing me.
As if a bobbing cork
held hard underwater,
I’ll be expected to break free.
So, I hold my breath
waiting for your light’s return.
Believing is enough
to keep me floating
into tomorrow’s light.
“There will be nights —that go on forever, like you’re long lost at sea never to be found.”

As I read, read twice …. I could feel the movement of the light in the lighthouse, see you. A wonderful write!

I love that first line and everything that follows. There are those we look to and know the light will be on. Great song and cute video to go with it.

Thank you. I penned this many years ago, but it seemed needed now. I’m grateful for the lighthouses in my life.

I hear in this how one person can mean so much to another. It is wonderful to have someone as a lighthouse in your life.
I especially liked these lines,
“my lighthouse,
steering me safely
through
sleepless seas”
